H.J. Pratt started Pratt Plumbing Company on January 1, 1963 with three crisp one hundred dollar bills. He worked out of his house and an old Chevrolet truck affectionately called “Ole Blue”. After two years of hard work on his own he bought the company’s first new van for $1,200 and hired his first employee. They moved into a formal office on 11th and Grand street in 1972.

H.J. and his wife, Ernestine, owned and operated Pratt Plumbing for 35 years before selling the company to their daughter and son-in-law in March of 2001. Gary and Patricia Hans grew the company by building upon a foundation of hard work and dedication. They led the company to a new level of professionalism and customer service and created a reputation of technical savvy, creative problem solving, and out-of-the-box thinking.

Gary and Trish sold the company in October of 2017 after almost two decades of ownership. The current owner, John Esler, is a former employee and licensed Responsible Master Plumber. He is proud to continue the family-owned culture of the company and is dedicated to maintaining the pursuit of excellence Pratt Plumbing is known for.
